(Tokyo) Drifting

I saw a live recently, more pictures and details of which are available here. But the past few weeks seem like such a blur that I hardly feel alive in contrast with that night's energy. Monetary funds are rapidly decreasing as I balance my time between rushing to finish work for my worthless class and going out to drop dough to get drunk. With JLI finally over, there's not much else to do but get my things ready for next week because I'm finally going to Osaka. Which isn't to say that I won't miss this place or the people I've met. They've grown on me, as reluctant as I am to admit that. But it's time to move on.

Things that stand out from the past few weeks: lots of reading and writing, bowling with Keiko, staying out all night in Korea town thanks to Jae, more karaoke and drinking with class D, the Filipino bar and restaurant and the women I met, and hanging with David at Saitama's Jazz Day and seeing John Lennon's life as portrayed by Yoko Ono.

More things to come soon.

And in fact they have, actually, as I'm editing this. I just came back from watching a baseball game at Jingu Stadium. The Yakult Swallows crushed the Yoruichi Giants with a dominating 5-0 final score. Pitcher Ishikawa shut them out while the crowd favorite Aoki scored multiple runs. It was, as David put it, a true Japanese cultural experience. Eating unremarkable home run yakisoba, young female vendors selling beer from miniature keg-backpacks, a horn rendition of "Oh Canada" as a Canadian player for the Swallows steps up to bat and hits a home run - exciting times to be had indeed.

Billy would have wet himself.
